🎀 Thanksgiving with Spirit: The UCA All-American Cheer Experience at Magic Kingdom
While most families are gathered around the dinner table carving turkey and passing mashed potatoes, a select group of cheerleaders are marching down Main Street, U.S.A., living out a dream that blends athletic achievement with Disney magic. The UCA All-American Cheer Experience at Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving Day is more than just a parade—it’s a celebration of hard work, talent, and unforgettable memories.
🌟 What Is the UCA All-American Experience?
Each year, cheerleaders from across the country attend Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) camps, where standout performers are selected as All-American Cheerleaders. This honor earns them an invitation to participate in special events, including the Orlando Thanksgiving Tour, hosted at Walt Disney World Resort.
The highlight? Marching in the Thanksgiving Day parade at Magic Kingdom, surrounded by thousands of guests, dazzling holiday decor, and the iconic sounds of Disney. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in one of the most joyful settings imaginable.
👟 Behind the Scenes: Practice, Prep & Pixie Dust
Cheerleaders arrive in Orlando early Thanksgiving week, having already learned their routines through months of practice. Once on-site, they rehearse with hundreds of other All-Americans, forming new friendships and bonding over shared excitement. The energy is electric—equal parts nerves and joy—as they prepare to perform in front of a global audience.
Participants also get a backstage tour of Disney, offering a rare glimpse into the magic behind the scenes. From character meet-and-greets to team photos in front of Cinderella Castle, every moment is curated to make these athletes feel celebrated.
In 2024, our daughter Brooke was one of those lucky cheerleaders—and it was nothing short of magical. The event was well-organized, full of energy and joy, and Brooke herself called it “one of the best days of her life.” Watching her beam with pride as she marched down Main Street, surrounded by other talented athletes, was a moment we’ll never forget.
đź’« A Family Affair
For many families, this experience becomes a new kind of Thanksgiving tradition. Parents cheer from the sidelines, siblings snap photos, and everyone gets to enjoy the parks together after the performance. And yes—while we skipped the traditional turkey dinner, we didn’t miss out on celebration. We watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in our hotel room, grabbed steaks at STK Orlando, and spent the afternoon soaking up the sun at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes pool. It was a Thanksgiving filled with joy, gratitude, and a whole lot of sparkle.
🎉 Why It Matters
The UCA All-American Cheer Experience is more than a performance—it’s a recognition of dedication, spirit, and leadership. It gives young athletes a platform to shine, connect, and create lifelong memories. And for families, it’s a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving in a way that’s both meaningful and magical.
Whether you’re a cheer parent, a Disney enthusiast, or just someone looking for a new way to spend the holidays, this event proves that Thanksgiving can be just as heartwarming under palm trees and pixie dust.
